KITCHENS are often referred to as the heart of a home, so it stands to reason that a new kitchen must be like a heart transplant - messy, painful and it takes weeks to recover. When I refit a kitchen I aim to reduce the pain and the mess as much as possible, and the end result usually speeds the recovery time too! Of course, you don't always have to have a complete new kitchen; if you're happy with your basic layout then a partial refit - soft-close door and drawer fronts, worktops, sink and taps - can freshen up a kitchen for a fraction of the price of a complete refit.
